Inside the Mind - Lillian Bricker

  • What inspired you to start writing?
As a child, my grandma would read books to me all the time. Listening to her stories instilled in me a passion for the written word.
  • Can you tell us a little about your latest book?
Claire Matthews has spent her life hiding her powers, just as her ancestors from Salem once did, knowing that one mistake could draw the attention of the ruthless Onyx Clan. When she learns that Killian Burns, a prisoner who may know the location of a buried ancient library tied to the fall of Mythicos, is set to be executed, she risks everything to save him. Their escape sets off a chain of events that reveals their true identity as Elementals and binds them to a dangerous mission to uncover the past, unite the remaining Elementals, and stop the Onyx Clan's merciless leader before she destroys what remains of their world.
  • What has been the most rewarding part of being an indie author?
For me, the most rewarding part of being an indie author is the creative freedom to tell my stories exactly the way I envision them. I love having full control over every aspect of the process, from writing and editing to cover design and marketing. It’s incredibly fulfilling to connect directly with readers and hear how my work has touched them in some way.
  • What’s one challenge you’ve faced in your writing journey?
Being scammed by two companies that prey on indie authors. Even with my wounded ego afterwards, I still got back out there and published my book. I wouldn't let crappy people stop me.
  • What advice would you give to new or aspiring indie authors?
It's never to late to publish your book. I've been working on this book for over a decade and finally published it.
  • How do you handle book promotion as an indie author?
I post regularly on my social medias, do author interviews like this one, try to get big booktokers and Bookinsgrammers to read my book.
  • What’s next for you? Are you working on a new book?
I am working on Elementals of Mythicos, Book 2: Ways of the Wind currently
