Inside the Mind - David M. McGowan

  • Why write?
Because it's not wrong! Seeriously though, there is a long list of answers to this question and they can be found at https://dmmcgowan.blogspot.com/2026/08/why-write.html
  • Are there historical events within your fiction?
All my stories contain some history. For example, the history included in "The Great Liqauor War" is identified at https://dmmcgowan.blogspot.com/2026/05/from-authors-note-for-great-liquor-war.html In the novel "Partners"
  • Why did you write this or that story?
In most cases the story has something to do with my home country and there is not enough bragging done about Canada. A more complete answer can be found at https://dmmcgowan.blogspot.com/2026/08/why-did-you-write-that-story.html
  • Was there ever a moment when you seriously considered giving up writing? If so, what kept you going?
There have been many times, most of them having to do with a lack of visibillity for my stories. There is much more coverage of this at https://www.blogger.com/blog/post/edit/9210295911043097934/7089764142538542685
  • How do you balance historical acuracy with creating an engaging story?
This question is similar to Question 2 but still requires, I think a seperate answer. The simple anser is that if you are writing history the history is paramount but if writing entertainment then the fiction is paramount.
